Pulling Part of Yourself from the Closet

I recently returned from twelve days in Belize, which is on the Caribbean coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. I felt natural there with the diverse people, culture, standards of living, and lifestyles of this developing nation.

I didn’t experience any flash of inspiration or calling of God. For a while I felt nothing. But then a subtle sense slowly grew in me that this may be an answer to the foreign mission field I’ve been away from for so long. As if that part of my heart and calling finally found it’s place after many years since Kim and I returned from Japan. The Belizians’ needs and receptivity forged an opportunity where my abilities can make a difference. And thanks to Zoom, I can do a lot of that right from my home in the USA.

It feels as if a faded part of me that’s hung in the closet for a long time has been pulled out, dusted off, and tried on to see if it still fits. And I discovered it still fits.

What might that kind of thing be for you?
Is there anything in your life that you’ve hung in the closet for a while?
Or maybe it gradually migrated there by itself as you involved yourself with other things.

Maybe something you used to do.
Or something you were once committed to.
Or some way in which you found joy or fulfillment in blessing others.

What would happen if you pulled that old part of you out of the closet and tried it on?
Where would it take you?
What would you do again?
What, at this stage of your life, might you do differently?

Given who you are, what might God reactivate in you that brings you to fulfilling your place in God’s big picture?

If any of that resonates with you, I pray you will be re-ignited.
And please let me know.
